Boeing Subsidiary Tapestry Solutions Names DeFord President and CEO

SAN DIEGO, April 28, 2011 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Tapestry Solutions has named R. Sam DeFord Jr. as president and CEO, effective immediately.

Prior to this assignment, DeFord served as Tapestry executive vice president and chief operating officer, responsible for worldwide software development, field engineering, and exercises and training operations.

Tapestry executes Boeing’s logistics command and control (Log C2) strategy and has responsibility for the company’s long-term growth in this sector. In support of this adjacent market, Tapestry integrated Federated Software Group in 2008 and CDM Technologies in 2010. The company continues to grow through a combination of merger and acquisition activity and through its work as part of Boeing.

“Tapestry has a new generation of products that makes us extremely competitive in the dynamic Log C2 industry,” said DeFord. “We are in a great position to not only assume greater leadership in the logistics command and control market, but also to expand into the international marketplace.”

“Sam has been a driving force behind Tapestry’s growth and has the full support of Boeing management as we move forward,” said Galen Aswegan, the outgoing president of Tapestry Solutions. “I am confident in his ability to be innovative and responsive to the industry’s changing dynamics, and his ability to increase our market share.”

Aswegan will continue in a new role within Boeing, working on strategic market opportunities for Log C2, with a focus on corporate agility and responsiveness.
