By Elyse Moody/AviationWeek.com

Virgin Atlantic extended its existing component support and pool access contract with Air France Industries and KLM Engineering & Maintenance late last year, according to news of the deal released Feb. 2. This adds to an airframe maintenance contract signed last July, which also runs through the end of 2010, an AFI representative confirmed.

The pool access contract covers availability and delivery of Boeing 747-400 parts for Virgin Atlantic's fleet of 13 of the aircraft. It also operates six Airbus A340-300s and 19 A340-600s. KLM E&M has provided maintenance for the Boeing aircraft in the Virgin Atlantic fleet since 1994.
