Copenhagen-based Star Air awarded a $55 million contract to Delta TechOps to overhaul and repair 22 CF6-80A2/C2s that power Star Air's 11 Boeing 767-200SF cargo aircraft. The eight-year contract, announced on March 17 but executed on Nov. 27, 2008, converts a time and material agreement that started in Feb. 2004 to a power-by-the-hour agreement.
This supplements an 11-year time and material agreement for auxiliary power units signed by the companies in March 2005, and a 10-year power-by-the-hour agreement signed in Sept. 2004 for components.
Delta TechOps also supports engineering requests for Star Air.
"The previous four years have proven that we chose correctly. Delta TechOps has consistently delivered superior quality, turnaround times, technical expertise and assistance when we needed it," said Jorgen Johansen, Star Air VP technical, in a press release.
Star Air, part of the A.P. Moller-Maersek Group, is headquartered at the Copenhagen Airport but its main hub is in Cologne, Germany. The 11 Boeing 767s that are part of these contracts comprise its entire fleet.
