Ferrovial's Airport Sale Timeframe Could Be Extended

Spain's Ferrovial could be allowed more time than the prescribed two years to sell three of its British airports depending on future market conditions, Britain's competition regulator said.

"The decision taken on timescale is based on our view of the market at the moment, but we will review it if circumstances change. We will be flexible," Competition Commission deputy chairman Christopher Clarke said.

He added that unsuccessful bidders for London's Gatwick airport, which is already up for sale and being stalked by three interested parties, were likely to go on to look at London's Stansted airport.

The Commission ordered Ferrovial to sell three of its seven-strong British airports portfolio earlier on Thursday to boost competition.
