Pilot Strike Hits Domestic Flights At Japan's ANA
A strike by pilots forced the cancellation of 137 domestic flights at All Nippon Airways, Japan's second-biggest airline, on Wednesday, stranding 9,400 people.
Around 15 percent of ANA's flights were stopped by the 24-hour strike, the airline said in a statement. The strike was caused by a dispute over pilot training and safety standards.
International flights are operating as usual, a spokesman said.
ANA's bigger rival, Japan Airlines, had faced a strike threat on Wednesday as well, but said in a statement this did not eventuate.
