Qantas May Cut 100 Senior Executive Jobs - Report

Australia's Qantas is expected to cut 100 senior executive jobs under a review of its management structure, a newspaper report said on Monday.

The report in the Australian Financial Review said the airline was likely to implement the changes in the coming weeks following a review conducted by management consultants Boston Consulting Group.

The business daily cited unnamed senior sources within Qantas.

Qantas, like many global airlines, has been hit by the global economic slowdown, which has crimped air travel. Last year it announced plans to cut about 1,500 jobs, or about 4 percent of its work force, as it battled the tough operating environment.

Qantas declined to comment on Monday's report. The paper did not say whether the cuts are part of or in addition to the 1,500 previously announced.
