Air France-KLM Says Traffic Down In June

Air France-KLM said Tuesday its passenger traffic fell 7 percent in June and said cargo data confirmed activity has stabilized in recent months after being hit by the global financial and economic crises.

Europe's biggest airline said it carried 6.37 million passengers in June while its capacity was cut by 5 percent and its passenger load factor fell 1.1 percentage points to 80.3 percent.

The sharpest fall in passenger traffic came on the Asia-Pacific network, which was down 10.2 percent. Passenger traffic was down 7.7 percent on European routes with a load factor down 2.3 points at 72.8 percent.

Cargo traffic excluding Martinair, which was consolidated in January, fell 17.2 percent and capacity was down 15.4 percent, bringing the cargo load factor down 1.4 points to 64.1 percent.
