US aircraft maker Boeing and Brazilian planemaker Embraer have won deals worth a total of USD$333 million to supply Algeria's oil company Sonatrach subsidiary Tassili with seven planes, Sonatrach said Tuesday.

Boeing secured an USD$228.5 million deal to sell to Tassili Airlines, an affiliate of Sonatrach, four 150-seat 737-800s, Sonatrach said in a statement.

Embraer will supply three 100-seat ERJ 190s for USD$104.68 million, it said, adding that the bids were opened on Monday.

Other bidders for the order included Airbus and Canada's Bombardier.

Sonatrach said bids for two other 70-seat planes were "unfruitful" and another tendering competition would be launched shortly.

The main role of Tassili Airlines is transporting people working in Algeria's energy industry but it plans to expand operations with domestic and international passenger flights.
