Inauguration of Mumbai RSO Reinforces Bombardier's Robust International Expansion

Bombardier Aerospace today marked an important milestone in the ongoing expansion of its international service and support network with the official inauguration of its regional support office (RSO) in Mumbai, India. The RSO, the first to serve both Bombardier Business Aircraft and Commercial Aircraft operators, underscores the company’s drive to provide its growing international customer base with access to regionalized support services in their own time zones and languages.

Rick McElrea, Acting Consul General, and Erin Hunt, Vice Consul & Trade Commissioner, along with James Hoblyn, President, Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft, Todd Young, Vice President, Customer Services and Support, Commercial Aircraft and Andy Nureddin, Vice President, Customer Services and Support, Business Aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace, were among several dignitaries on hand for the ribbon cutting at the 1,900 square-foot (176.51 sq-m) RSO, located near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Operations at the Indian RSO are currently being overseen by Subeer Kapoor, Manager RSO, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. Technical support is being provided by Ravi Vats, Field Service Representative (FSR), Commercial Aircraft and Sriram Sethuraman, Field Service Representative, Business Aircraft. By the end of this year, the office will be home to a team of up to 12 customer services support staff who will complement Bombardier’s regional FSRs located throughout India and surrounding regions. Bombardier plans to hire a Business Aircraft RSO manager at a later date.

“The Asia-Pacific region is an important market for Bombardier, and we are moving decisively to expand our services and support presence there so that our customers can benefit from strong working relationships and quick response times in their own backyard,” said Mr. Hoblyn.

Over the last three years, Bombardier has been aggressively growing its international services and support presence. The Mumbai office is the company’s fifth RSO to open in the past three years outside North America. Plans are underway to open similar offices for Business Aircraft in Dubai and Shanghai by the end of 2010.

Mr. Hoblyn and fellow Bombardier executives were in Mumbai following a stop at Bombardier’s two-day regional Maintenance & Operations (M&O) conference for business aircraft operators in Hong Kong. Bombardier has a total of 11 international customer events scheduled for 2010, including one in Mumbai planned for later in the year.

Since embarking on its worldwide customer support expansion strategy in 2007, Bombardier has opened four other RSOs for its CRJ and Q-Series commercial aircraft customers in Tokyo, Japan; Sydney, Australia; Shanghai, China and Munich, Germany, and has added dedicated representatives in these regions. In addition, the company’s Business Aircraft division added FSRs in India and Singapore, and inaugurated its first line maintenance facility for Challenger andGlobal business jet customers in India through Air Works.
