Inmarsat Set To Provide High-Speed Internet

Inmarsat will create a Ka-band broadband system to complement its existing L-band system, allowing it to go one-up on mobile satellite service (MSS) competitors.

Dubbed Global Xpress, the system will be based on three 15-kw. Boeing 702 HP spacecraft, each of which will be equipped with 89 fixed spot beams and have some in-orbit processing. To be in place by 2014, the Inmarsat-5 ...
