Southwest Buying AirTran

LONDON

Southwest Airlines has signed a definitive agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares of AirTran Airways parent AirTran Holdings Inc. in a cash and stock transaction valued at $3.4 billion, Southwest announced Sept. 27.
