Boeing Fort Walton Beach Facility Earns AS9100 Certification

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla., June 29, 2011 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced that the company's Fort Walton Beach facility has earned AS9100 certification following an audit by outside firm Det Norske Veritas. The company achieved back-to-back zero findings/observations -- 100-percent scores -- in a periodic review completed in August 2010 and for recertification in February of this year.

AS9100 certification asserts that a company adheres to internationally accepted quality, safety and technology standards.

"Having AS9100 certification shows customers and potential customers that this site can produce consistently excellent products and services," said Jerry Barkley, quality manager for Boeing Fort Walton Beach. "Our culture of continuous improvement is increasing our competitiveness as well as our productivity."

The facility's Employee Involvement teams, which have already produced $5.5 million in savings in the past year, will continue to advance the company's Quality Management System with the goals of reducing costs and improving customer satisfaction.

Boeing Fort Walton Beach includes the company's Special Operations Forces program, which provides maintenance, modification and upgrade capabilities to U.S. Air Force Special Operations Forces. The team provides field service support both in the United States and around the world for primary platforms AC-130U and CV-22. The program's products and services include:

  • specialty, software, and modification engineering
  • logistics/product support
