Embraer reinforces executive jet sales team in Asia Pacific

Senior appointments underscore focus on business development in the region .

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, October 2011 – Embraer has expanded its Executive Aviation organization in Asia Pacific with senior appointments to the sales team, reinforcing the Company’s focus and investment in this region.

Abhishek Sinha and Christophe Chicandard have joined Manfred Baudzus as Sales Directors, to pursue and secure sales of Embraer’s executive jets in Asia Pacific. Abhishek’s area of responsibility includes Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, while Christophe has the same mandate for Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines, as well as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Together with Manfred, who is responsible for sales in Southeast Asia (with the exception of the Philippines) and Pakistan, all three report to José Eduardo Costas, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Asia Pacific – Embraer Executive Jets.

“The strengthening of our sales team comes at an interesting, yet significant, time in Asia, and is a reflection of our continued confidence and commitment in the region. At Embraer, we anticipate the total market for new business jets to be approximately 1,100 units in Asia Pacific, amounting to USD 48 billion, over the next 20 years. Comparatively, less than 4 percent of the active global business jet fleet is currently based in Asia. The potential for new business is, therefore, tremendous, and I look forward to the combined talents and experience of Abhishek, Christophe and Manfred to build on what we’ve achieved since we established a team here in 2009,” said José Eduardo Costas.

With over 15 years of strong, relevant experience in sales, sales leadership and management in the IT, logistics and aviation industries in India, Abhishek Sinha joined Embraer in early 2011 from a business jet representative company in India. As the former head of his business division, Abhishek was responsible for both sales and management of a sales team, and repeatedly exceeded sales targets, earning him and his team numerous achievement awards. A mechanical engineer by training, Abhishek has a postgraduate degree in Management from the Institute of Management and Technology, in Ghaziabad, India.

Christophe Chicandard has over 20 years of global experience in the aerospace industry and has served in sales, as well as senior management roles, as Sales Director and Vice President, Airline Marketing, with international aircraft manufacturers and leasing companies in Europe, North America and Asia. Most recently, he was responsible for significant sales of new executive jets in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. For the last six years, he has been based in Singapore. A native Parisian, Christophe has Masters degrees in Organizational Leadership, from Monash University (Australia), and International Business & Administration, from the Institut Supérieur de Gestion (Paris, France). Christophe joined the Embraer Executive Jets team in Asia Pacific in September 2011.

Capt. Manfred Baudzus holds both Australian and U.S. Airline Transport Pilot Licenses, logged almost 11,000 flight hours and has more than 25 years of experience with flying executive jets in global operations during his more than 35-year career in aviation. Aside from piloting aircraft for commercial or executive purposes, Manfred has held roles ranging from Line Pilot, Chief Pilot, Aviation Manager, and CEO of various corporations and aircraft operating companies in Australia and Asia. Manfred joined Embraer in 2001 – a year before the first Legacy jet entered service – and was with the organization’s commercial aviation team before moving to executive jet sales soon after. He was named Sales Director, in 2009, when the dedicated Asia Pacific executive jets team was created.
