Embraer Commercial Aviation strengthens its presence in the Middle East

Company develops its commercial jet marketing, sales and customer support presence .

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 15, 2011 – Embraer continues growing its commercial aviation organization and customer support structure in the Middle East by opening a representation office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). A new dedicated regional sales and marketing team has been named for the region, led by Mathieu Duquesnoy, Vice President, Commercial Aviation, the Middle East and Africa, to strengthen Embraer’s ties with customers in an area with a growing number of E-Jets. This appointment also gives strategic and operational management personnel local influence, reflecting operator needs, as well as regional infrastructure and authority.

“We clearly see growth opportunities in the Middle East market and are swiftly investing in expanding our presence through a dedicated sales and marketing team,” said Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, Embraer President, Commercial Aviation. “The Embraer family of E-Jets has already been well received in this region and we see a strong potential for 70- to 120-seat platforms. Embraer’s commitment is to offer not only state-of-the-art aircraft, but also strong and closer customer support, in the region.”

The Company is also expanding its customer services in the region, and has established a partnership with Kuehne + Nagel, the globally operating logistics group, to offer its E-Jets customers a new spare parts distribution center in Dubai, which will be operational in the second half of 2012. Located near the new Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), in the Dubai Logistics City, the facility supplies spare parts for the expanding Embraer commercial aviation fleet in the Middle East, as well as support for customers in Africa.

“To support the growing fleet of E-Jets in the Middle East, local partnerships have already been announced, such as with Egyptair, in Egypt, which was named an Embraer authorized service center. By opening this new support base to customers, we will bring spare parts inventories close to them, and improve our level of service,” said Johann Bordais, Vice President, Services and Support, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia – Embraer Commercial Aviation. “The Dubai distribution center will allow us to improve the availability of parts and components, as well as the delivery process to customers in this important region, as we committed to during the Embraer Operators Conference, which took place in Amman, Jordan, last October.”

Once operational, the 16,000-square-meter (172,000-square-foot) Dubai distribution center will increase total warehouse capacity for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) network, adding to Embraer’s existing distribution center in Villepinte, France. It will benefit from the unique logistics platform of the new Dubai airport to enable immediate parts availability, especially in aircraft on ground (AOG) situations, to customers throughout the Middle East and Africa.

Embraer held the 12th edition of its worldwide Embraer Operators Conference (EOC) in Paris, France, September 26 - October 1. The event was focused on the E-Jets and ERJ 145 families, and included a blend of informative workshops, panel discussions and breakout sessions, reflecting input received from both customers and business partners.
