The U.S. Department of Defense issued two aviation aftermarket contracts, collectively valued at nearly $800 million, on June 29.
The Air Force awarded the largest one, worth $750 million, to Boeing for follow-on B-52 fleet support and engineering services. That covers support functions such as systems engineering, reliability and maintainability analyses, material deficiency report analysis and field problem investigation. Tinker Air Force Base is responsible for the contracting activity, with DoD obligating $9.6 million at this time.
Bell Helicopter won a $44.9 million firm-fixed-price contract for CV-22 depot level reparables. The Defense Logistics Agency issued the sole-source contract but the Air Force will receive the service for this work, which should be completed by Oct. 31.
