The U.S. Defense Dept. expects the solid-rocket motor industrial base — consisting of Alliant Techsystems, Aerojet and their subcontractors — to reduce its industrial footprint, but will also likely provide a minimum level of funding to sustain the skills of the workforce, says Brett Lambert, head of the Pentagon’s industrial policy office.
