Lineage 1000 jet demonstrates long-range flight capabilities

The distance from Mumbai to London is the farthest any Embraer aircraft has flown, to date

São José dos Campos, September 17, 2010 – Embraer’s ultra-large Lineage 1000 executive jet demonstrator aircraft recently made history by completing the longest distance ever flown by an Embraer airplane. In its first nonstop flight from Mumbai, in India, to London’s Luton Airport (LTN), in England, the Lineage 1000 covered a ground distance of 4,015 nautical miles (7,435 km) in 9 hours and 15 minutes. This distance is equivalent to 4,400 nautical miles (8,149 km) with no headwind.

“Throughout this year, our ultra-large Lineage 1000 executive jet demonstration aircraft has been showcased, worldwide, and we are satisfied it has successfully accomplished the longest distance ever flown by an Embraer airplane, from Mumbai to London,” said Luís Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive Vice President, Executive Jets. “Our customers have appreciated the combination of range and comfort offered by the Lineage 1000, and this particularly significant route, linking the Asian and European markets, flown under real operating conditions, is a further demonstration of the capabilities of our aircraft.”

The flight was performed in compliance with Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) fuel reserve requirements, with seven occupants – three crew members and four passengers – on a typically equipped Lineage 1000. With this latest city pair, owners, passengers and potential fliers of this ultra-large, thoroughly modern and luxurious aircraft, can go even farther across continents, in unequalled style and luxury.

About the Lineage 1000 jet
The ultra-large Lineage 1000 is Embraer’s biggest executive jet and can carry 19 passengers in five cabin zones. Its range of 4,400 nautical miles (8,149 km) with eight passengers, or 4,500 nautical miles (8,334 km) with four passengers, both with NBAA IFR fuel reserves, means that the jet is able to fly nonstop from London to Dubai; from Dubai to Johannesburg (South Africa); from New York to Moscow; or from Singapore to Sydney (Australia). The interior design gives priority to comfort and refinement, and was designed in conjunction with Priestmangoode, from the U.K. The cabin uses the category’s most sophisticated materials. A wide variety of configurations meets all passenger requirements with enough space to work, rest, and hold meetings. Optional items include Wi-Fi technology, access to the Internet, and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB). An ample aft baggage compartment, pressurized and conveniently accessible during flight, has a total capacity of 323 cubic feet (9,140 liters) and is the largest among all competitors. Honeywell’s Primus Epic® integrated avionics system has five Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) multi-functional control screens, Cursor Control Device (CCD), autothrottle, weather radar with turbulence detection, and other state-of-the-art technologies. The Lineage 1000 is equipped with the latest electronic fly-by-wire flight control system.
