World's Largest Affinity Discount Program Now Available on Android-Compatible Devices, AAA Says

Mobile application saves users money by pointing to nearby AAA Show Your Card & Save® locations

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AAA's suite of mobile applications, designed to make its widely used products and services available whenever and wherever millions of consumers need them, took another leap forward this month. AAA introduced an Android-compatible AAA Discounts app that matches the convenience and usefulness of its Apple iPhone counterpart which has been downloaded more than 880,000 times.

The free app uses GPS technology to display AAA Show Your Card & Save retail partners near the user's location. There are more than 110,000 AAA Show Your Card & Save locations and more than 51 million AAA members in North America. The AAA Discounts app provides maps with pan and zoom functionality and displays key information including each retail partner's name, address and phone number, a summary of the discount details and the distance to the location from the user's current position. One click provides narrative directions to the location.

"The growing popularity and sophistication of smartphones complements AAA's leadership in roadside problem-solving, travel planning and member discounts," said Bill Wood, managing director, AAA Travel Publishing. "Providing ready-access to these services and content through users' mobile devices further increases the value of AAA membership."

All app users can view the locations offering discounts, however only members may take advantage of the available savings. An additional feature accessible only by members is free roadside assistance. And when members call AAA for emergency road service, their GPS location is transmitted along with the call.

The app is available for free download from the Android Market and is compatible with devices using Android platform versions 1.6 or newer.

AAA Discounts for Android is the fourth free app to be offered by AAA. The first three apps, released for iPhone users, were AAA Discounts, AAA Roadside and AAA TripTik Mobile. AAA Roadside enables AAA members who require emergency road service to send their location, vehicle description and breakdown details directly to AAA. The recently released AAA TripTik Mobile is the first free app to display frequently updated gas prices. Each of these free applications is available for download from the iTunes Store.

AAA's Show Your Card & Save program is the largest member discount program in the world offering more than 164,000 locations for savings worldwide including popular online retailers Payless Shoesource, FTD.com and more. Last year, members saved more than $2 billion by taking advantage of AAA discounts including those available through the Show Your Card & Save program.
