TAM Completes First Jatropha Biofuel Flight

LONDON

TAM and Airbus have made the first flight of an airliner powered by Jatropha-based biofuel in Latin America.

One of the airline’s CFM International CFM56-powered A320s operated the 45 min. round-trip flight on Nov. 22 from Rio de Janeiro’s Galeão Antonio Carlos Jobim International airport with 20 TAM and Airbus people on board. In its fuel tanks was a 50 % blend of locally sourced ...
