Embraer's Legacy 650 certified by CAAC

This marks an important advance for the jet, as it enters the Chinese market .

Beijing, China, December 2011 – Embraer’s large Legacy 650 executive jet has been type certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) with the revised Validation Type Certificate Data Sheet. This paves the way for customers to register and operate the Legacy 650 in China. The jet has been certified by other major aviation regulatory authorities, including Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“We are glad that the Legacy 650 has been certified by CAAC, which indicates a strong recognition of Embraer’s product and marks a significant advance, as the jet enters the Chinese market. We are now fully prepared to serve our Legacy 650 customers in this region,” said Guan Dongyuan, President of Embraer China. “This large executive jet is a perfect integration of outstanding performance, advanced technology and intelligent luxury, making it very suitable for China’s business climate.”

In 2011, alone, Embraer received many orders for the Legacy 650 from Chinese customers, including 13 for Minsheng Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., and one for the world-renowned movie star Jackie Chan, who is also Embraer’s newly appointed brand ambassador and will shortly join Embraer’s Legacy 650 family of users.

Powered by Rolls-Royce AE 3007A2 engines, the Legacy 650 has a range of 3,900 nautical miles (7,223 kilometers) and can fly with four passengers, under NBAA IFR conditions, nonstop from Beijing (China) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), or Hong Kong (China) to Adelaide (Australia). The jet’s outstanding hot-and-high performance enables travelers to easily access destinations at high altitudes and/or under hot conditions.

The aircraft is equipped with the fully integrated Honeywell Primus Elite™ avionics suite, which greatly heightens flight safety. With RNP 0.3 capability and other functionalities, such as WAAS/LPV and the SmartRunway™ and SmartLanding™ Runway Awareness and Advisory System, the Legacy 650 flight deck conforms to the latest technologies for enhanced situational awareness, while ensuring outstanding operational flexibility in congested airspaces, terrain-challenged airports, and adverse weather conditions.

The jet also provides travelers with superior comfort. Its three distinct and spacious cabin zones allow up to 14 passengers to work or rest without being disturbed. A fully equipped wet galley and the largest in-flight accessible baggage compartment in its class are other value-added highlights. The Legacy 650 performs as an ideal business partner with Wi-Fi technology that makes it easier to transfer large files, stream videos, and make and receive calls via VoIP.
