Oakenhurst Aircraft Services launches oxygen system repair and overhaul service
Oakenhurst Aircraft Services (www.oakenhurst.com) “Oakenhurst” has opened a dedicated oxygen system workshop to add to its growing range of Airline, Commercial and Business Jet component repair and overhaul capabilities.
The company is promising reduced turnaround times (TAT) and cost-efficiencies for customers thanks to the creation of the new in-house facility.
Based at Oakenhurst’s Rayleigh, Essex, UK headquarters the workshop is conveniently located for London’s four major airports.
Oakenhurst already has considerable experience of repair and overhaul of oxygen systems at its Boryspil, Kiev facility in Ukraine and is adding the UK workshop to meet growing demand.
The new workshop will provide overhaul and repair of: portable oxygen systems; fixed oxygen systems; oxygen masks, regulators and smoke hoods; and passenger service units.
Managing Director Charlie Parker said:
“Due to the nature of the equipment in oxygen systems they typically have quite high removal rates on aircraft and it is normally far cheaper to test and repair these units as opposed to the cost of replacing them.
“Additionally, the equipment is normally costly to ship as it is considered as dangerous goods when pressurized. Oakenhurst believes it can pass on considerable efficiencies to its customers by providing this additional service.”
The workshop will perform hydrostatic testing of the systems together with repair and overhaul as required. Standard testing and repairs has a typical TAT of 7-10 days.
Mr Parker commented:
“This is a competitive market but we hope to be able to drastically reduce the TAT for our customers by keeping these systems in house. We already have significant experience in handling oxygen systems in-house and we are confident that our expertise together with our highly convenient location will make this service attractive to the UK and European markets.”
He added that all operators serving the region were possible customers but that the company’s existing client base, have already begun to raise orders as early users of the oxygen workshop service.
