The A380: a milestone first appearance at Russia’s MAKS air show

For the first time ever, Airbus will bring its 21st century flagship A380 to Russia’s leading aerospace exhibition and air show – MAKS – which is set to take place 16-21 August at Moscow’s Zhukovsky Airport.

This special A380 appearance will help mark the MAKS industry event’s milestone 10th anniversary, and also underscores Airbus’ successful cooperation with Russia – which participated in the double-deck jetliner’s development and continues to supply essential aircraft components.

The A380 to be featured at MAKS 2011 is an Airbus flight test aircraft – designated MSN 004 – currently being used to evaluate product developments and the integration of new innovative equipment, as well as for airline pilot training.

Powered by Alliance GP7200 engines, it is scheduled to participate in the biennial event’s daily flying presentations, and also will be highlighted on the MAKS 2011 static display line.

Airbus’ A380 is setting new standards for air transport with unequalled levels of passenger comfort, space and quietness in the cabin, as well as unmatched operating costs and fuel efficiency.

In service today with five international carriers, the jetliner has carried over 10 million passengers since the beginning of commercial flights in 2007. To date, Airbus has received 244 firm orders for the A380 from 19 customers.
